We are hanging out here in Ludington, which is a very small and quiet town. At first, it reminded me of where I grew up in northern California and in some ways it still does, with its back alleys and the architecture of many of the homes. But it is actually bigger than where I grew up with more apt buildings, etc..

Ludington has the Badger car ferry which will take you over to Manitowic island and seems to be a very popular summer thing to do.

It also supposedly has a brewery, but we couldn’t find it. There is a museum which seems a lot like Shelburne museum so we passed on that.

Overall, it’s been quiet. We ate dinner in the last two nights and will eat out tonight with some loopers.

Tomorow we will make a big 120 mile run to So. Haven. It’s a really good weather window and we want to take advantage of it. ( we’ve been hanging here for a few days just waiting for a window) We will be there until Sunday. Hoping to do some sightseeing and are visiting some friends while we are there.

I think while in So Haven, we will be able to make our way up to Holland and finally get to see some sand dunes from the land. Hopefully, I will have more exciting things to report In the coming days. :)

But at this point, these little towns have really started to end their seasons and settle down and we are really setting our sights to Chicago. We are hoping to get a good weather day next week, that will just take us there and we will return to civilization.

Pictures:;

1. while it was reminding me of home, we came across Harrison Street which is the name of the street I grew up on.

2 and 3 Ludington. Building and pavilion

4. The Badger car farry

5-7. The local park. Michigan does do a wonderful job with downtown local parks. They are everywehre and very well done . Each one giving homage to something. In this case, the ferry and the railroad put this town on the map.

8. Our marina view

9. Sunset from our dock

Short and sweet today.

MadDog signing off.
