The last few days have been filled with smoke, storms and more smoke. Not a whole lot has happened…. From Little current we made our way to Gore Bay - in the smoke. We have spent the last three days really seeing nothing. The weather has just not allowed for us to do much.
On Monday, we took a walk in between storms and I got a couple of pics. Yesterday the smoke was so bad that we didn’t go anywhere all day. Except, at 4:30 I did wander into town and received arguably the best pedicure I have ever have. Yes, I still need some comforts. 🤞
The cute little spa is owned by a very nice lady who is originally from Botswana. She had her daughter helping out yesterday who is home for the summer from University in Toronto. Besides having the most attentive pedicure I have ever had, we all had a great conversation which touched on everything from holistic health practices, to life in Gore Bay to Botswana. Gore Bay is truly running on island time and everything is low key and no hurry. Quite refreshing. We also have an open invite to Botswana. She says it is the gem of Africa.
On another note, I have been most upset with Wix and how they handle pictures. It has been extremely buggy. I was complaining heavily about how buggy it was and saying I was going to contact Wix and that they ought to be embarrassed about how buggy it was.
As I was complaining, Mike asked if I updated the app recently. In which I responded, “It‘s in the browser as they don’t have full app for the Ipad”. And then, as if the lightbulb clicked and I said, “I wonder if it works better in Chrome” You would think that 20 years in the software industry, it wouldn’t have taken an entire month for that lightbulb to click. I’m sure Risa and everyone else who has worked with me and is reading this is thinking, Seriously????? But, yes it took me a month. And guess what, it works much better! Not perfect, but much better. I still need to figure out tagging pics better. But not today, Whaleback is way too beautiful. At least I have been able to play with the layout a little…
All the pics below are of our trip into GoreBay on Sunday and GoreBay the last few days. The last one is this morning in the sunshine. And the booties—-those are from me awesome pedicure.
Today, on Heathers birthday, we woke up to gorgeous blue skies and little wind. We are off and starting to explore the Whaleback channel. With luck we will anchor out the next two nights before hitting Detour Michigan on Friday.
The weather is much colder today and tonight it’s supposed to be down to 55 degrees. Maybe bugs won‘t be an issue. But we have a plan because I do need to take the dogs out so we can’t hunker down from 4:00 pm on. We are going to keep the cabin very dark on departure and reentry of the boat and we will have a fan set up at the door to blow them off. Then the dogs and I will dash in and out at lighting speed, blowing those pesky critters out before they can enter. We shall see how this goes. 🤞🤞 If this doesn’t work, I am going to turn into a day anchorer here, that is for sure!!.
Today will determine tomorrow night. The return of the death eaters, we go to a marina, bugs under control, another night on hook.
Yes, the states are coming soon. We will miss celebrating Canada day in Canada which I am sure would be a blast, but also very busy and we are needing to make our way to MaD’s summer home of Bay Harbor in Michigan.
If we don’t have cell service, my next post will be from Detour..
The first two pictures are leaving Gore Bay this am and the last are from today In the Whaleback channel. It’s quite stunning and we will post more later, but its hard to capture the beauty.
Wish I had thought of a good sign off by now, but nothing but the old Fair winds and following seas comes to mind, and that is for us 😂
I will sign off with Happy Birthday Heather. Love You❤️
